Connector types explained

5 min read

Type 2 (AC)

The standard UK/EU connector for destination and workplace charging, typically 7 to 22 kW. Most EVs sold in the UK use Type 2 for AC charging.

CCS (DC fast)

Combined Charging System adds DC pins below Type 2 for rapid charging from 50 kW to 350 kW at motorway hubs. Check your vehicle’s maximum DC rate.

CHAdeMO

Older Japanese-standard DC connector, still found on some legacy sites. EvReserve filters help you exclude incompatible chargers.

Tesla

Many Superchargers are Tesla-only. CCS-equipped Teslas and other brands can use CCS public networks via EvReserve roaming where supported.
